- 05Level 1 is perfect for anyone who has not worked with plant medicine, it gives you a slow introduction to the medicine, how it would work with your body and what to expect. We do not recommend doing Level 2 unless you have prior experience with the medicine in a therapeutic setting. Have more questions? Contact us for more information
- 06Some things to bring or have on hand for your journey: Warm clothes. The temperature will fluctuate exponentially as you ride the wave of the plant medicine. You can be freezing one second and hot the next, we suggest having multiple layers. Comfy clothing is paramount. Think lazy day clothing. Something you can move comfortably in, sit and lay in. If you have a special blanket, we suggest having that on hand. Or a pillow you love. The main focus is comfort and relaxation. A journal. This is very important, as stuff may come to you during or after your journey. We encourage you to write it down, and on paper, not in your phone or a tablet. Pen(cil) to paper is organic and therapeutic. Allergy pills. If you are joining us, you are going to want to take these if you need them leading up to the journey, our cats love to join us. They are drawn to the energy. We also have 2 large loving dogs on the property, they are outdoor dogs and do not come in. Change of clothes and whatever amenities you may want if joining us for an overnight journey. Water bottle. Staying hydrated is key! We have filtered water on hand.

You are not bound by your choice, if you feel the need to move once the journey begins, please feel free to do so. We will keep you safe. We do like to start all together, to give you the comfort of community but understand you may need your own space once you start on the journey. If you feel like going for a walk before we begin, being in nature and the sun, we can go for a walk around the property. We highly encourage grounding activities such as reading, meditating, time in nature, breathwork or feel free to take a nap if you like. We recommend staying away from negative or suggestive activities like social media, tv or the news. 4:00-6:00 pm: Time to start the plant ceremony! Depending on the time of year we will start between 4pm and 6pm At this time, we will start by picking your strain and dose. After we have your journey dose together, we will start the ceremony. Part of the ceremony includes using Sage and Palo Santo to cleanse the space and ourselves before we begin. 4:30 pm - 12:00 am: The journey can last anywhere from 4-6 hrs, sometimes can be longer. After everyone is out of the journey we will have some snacks and some round table discussion around your experiences. We encourage you to participate but if you need your space, that is ok as well. You are welcome to stay up as late as you want to talk through it all with us if you need, or if you’re tired, feel free to retire to your room, there is no pressure either way. Everyone processes differently. Day 3: Breakfast, Closing ceremony and Integration 10/10:30 am: We will have breakfast together again once everyone is up, feel free to sleep as long as you need, if you miss breakfast we will save some for you and wait for you to close the weekend. 11/11:30 am: We will have a closing cacao ceremony to close out the sacred weekend. 12/12:30 pm: At this time, we open the space for any continued conversations, if you need some time one on one we can accommodate that as well. If we feel you are ok to do so, you can leave after the closing ceremony. It is our greatest desire to have you leaving in a good head space, if this isn’t the case, we will sit as long as needed to make sure you are ok to head out on your own. Remember this is just the beginning, integration is the biggest and can be the hardest part. For the next 2 weeks we will continue to check in and monitor you and your progress. We will be here for you if you need anything.
- 09These are preparation techniques we require for the week leading up to your journey, of course the longer you can prepare this way the bettter your mind, body and spirit will be able to handle the upcoming journey and integration. Diet The dietary aspect of this journey extends beyond mere food choices; it underscores the importance of self-care and mindfulness throughout the process. While strictly adhering to a specific diet isn’t obligatory, nurturing a deep connection with your body remains essential for your optimal state as you approach the ceremony. The ideal diet would be: Lots of vegetables and fruit Eating whole foods, cutting out processed wherever possible No added sugar Foods full of good fats but low in other fats Minimize caffeine intake as much as possible Little to no dairy Staying well-hydrated. Substances We suggest you refrain from the use of other substances, such as nicotine, caffeine, alcohol, and cannabis, for at least the week leading up to your journey. We think cannabis can be a valuable teacher plant, however in honor of both its significance and your journey, we suggest abstaining from it. This choice allows for a more pristine and unadulterated connection with the earth medicine, enhancing the clarity of vibrations and your overall experience Daily Practices Now is a great time to start these daily practices, journaling, meditation, yoga, and breath-work are all especially important in support of your relaxation. Starting a regular cacao practice can also be a great option for opening your heart and connecting to yourself. Be sure to stretch and take care of your body during this time as well Sexual Activity In alignment with your journey preparation, we suggest refraining from engaging in sexual activity and self-pleasure, considering the potential energetic connections and energy release associated with them. Instead, we encourage you to explore alternative self-care practices, such as breath-work and physical exercise, to help release any attachments and channel your energy as needed Gratitude & Nature If you haven’t already embraced a daily gratitude practice, we warmly suggest considering it, as it can significantly contribute to cultivating a mindset conducive to personal growth. We also extend our encouragement for you to immerse yourself in nature whenever feasible, connecting with the earth and inhaling the amazing outdoor air can bring a profound sense of serenity into your journey
- 10Integration is an integral part of your journey, the experience itself is only the beginning. How you apply, reflect on, and work with the awareness gained during your journey is just as important as the experience itself. After the Journey Every journey is deeply personal and unique, and we are truly grateful to walk alongside you through part of that process. While the ceremony may come to an end, the deeper work often begins afterward. It is common to leave with new perspectives, emotional insights, or a clearer understanding of patterns within yourself and your relationships. In the days and weeks that follow, you may feel called to make changes, process emotions more deeply, improve communication, create healthier boundaries, reconnect with yourself, or approach life differently than before. Integration is the practice of taking what you experienced during the journey and consciously applying it to your everyday life. This can look like journaling, reflection, mindful lifestyle changes, open conversations, therapy, grounding practices, rest, time in nature, or creating healthier habits and routines that support your growth. Without integration, even profound experiences can fade quickly or become difficult to fully understand. True transformation happens through awareness, consistency, and the willingness to continue showing up for yourself after the journey is complete. This is why Grove & Hollow places strong importance on preparation, post-journey reflection, and ongoing support.
- 11Yes! We encourage you to journey with your support system, they will be integral in helping you integrate after the journey! We offer discounted rates for 3+ journey participants in the level 1 journey, for anyone looking to dip their toes into the experience. Currently we can accomodate 2 couples or 3 individuals.
- 12Emotions are heightened during a journey, we highly encourage you to experience the range of emotions fully, we are here to assist you through them if they become too much. You are in a safe and loving space and will be held with much care and love. Purging can feel scary, but it is the bodies way of releasing stored trauma, though very rare it can happen. We do our best to prepare your body and mind to prevent this, you are never a burden should this happen, and it is our honour to care for you during this process. Being vulnerable is a must in this setting and we will meet you at every level with equal amounts of vulnerability and love. It can feel scary and unnerving, but is always worth it to embrace the vulnerability. Deep growth and change come from being vulnerable.
- 13This can be a difficult question to answer, but we believe in being honest and transparent about the experience. This work often asks us to look deeply at ourselves, our emotions, our patterns, and the experiences we may normally avoid or keep guarded. While you are never forced to share beyond your comfort level, openness, vulnerability, and willingness to participate in discussion can greatly impact the depth of your experience. Our intention is to create a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental environment where you feel comfortable exploring what arises for you. If you are not currently open to self-reflection, emotional honesty, or group connection, this may not be the right setting for you at this time.
